This address provides some new perspectives on the change process. It draws on the presenter’s 39 years of clinical experience in full time private practice as well as recent research findings. It examines a range of factors that influence human behaviour and outlines some practical techniques that can be used to create those moments that facilitate change.

Brian Allen – Changing the Word in the Heart – Using Hypnosis to build resilience in clients who want to quit Smoking, Alcohol or Drugs
This workshop draws on the presenter’s 39 years of practical experience in helping people quit smoking, alcohol and drugs.
It outlines a simple generic four session hypnotic approach aimed at improving successful outcomes and minimising withdrawal symptoms. It can be adapted to smoking, alcohol and drug addictions. It explores the connection between smoking and feelings and looks specifically at the role that anger and the “f… you, cigarette” play in maintaining smoking addictions.
Identify the common myths / fantasies that people use as a justification for continuing their addictions
At the end of the workshop participants will:
1. Understand 4 things that make a difference in overcoming an addiction.
2. Be aware of 2 key questions that can improve success rates.
3. Understand the role that denial and unresolved psychological issues play in maintaining addictions and know how to help the client overcome these issues.
ABOUT THE GUEST SPEAKERS
Brian Allen is a graduate of the University of Western Australia and a Registered Psychologist in full time private practice in Perth, Western Australia. He is a Past President of The Australian Society of Hypnosis Ltd, its current Treasurer and a Board Member of The International Society of Hypnosis. He has 39 years experience in the field of hypnosis both as a practitioner and a teacher. For the past 23 years he has conducted the Australian Society of Hypnosis`s training program in Western Australia. In addition he has been an invited presenter at state, national and international conferences
Dr Eric Willmarth Ph.D.
Eric K. Willmarth, Ph.D., is a fully licensed psychologist living with his wife Carol in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He has two sons, Dr. Kevin Willmarth, a psychologist in Ohio and Alex Willmarth, who has his bachelor’s degree in psychology and is now attending Oakland University seeking his teaching certificate.
Dr. Willmarth received his Bachelor’s Degree from William James College, his Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Eastern Michigan University, and his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the Fielding Graduate University. He is a past president of both the Michigan Society of Behavioral Medicine and Biofeedback and the Michigan Society of Clinical Hypnosis. He is also the past president of the APA Division 30-Psychological Hypnosis and currently serves as President of the Society for Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis.
Eric is Board Certified in Pain Management by the American Academy of Pain Management, a Fellow of the Society of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis, an Approved Consultant of the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis, and a member of the International Society of Hypnosis. He has been an adjunct professor at the Forest School of Professional Psychology and Western Michigan University. He is currently the Director of Training for Saybrook University’s College of Integrative Medicine and Health Sciences where he also serves as the Director of the Integrative Mental Health Specialization. He teaches the Advanced Hypnosis and the Advanced Biofeedback Practicum courses along with the Basic and Intermediate Hypnosis Courses at Saybrook.
Eric is the founder and president of Michigan Behavioral Consultants (www.michiganbehavioral.com), a group psychology and social work practice focused on pain management and behavioral health. The group offers multiple forms of therapy and psychological testing services at locations throughout Michigan.

Please use the below link to register online. You will receive immediate confirmation of your registration along with a tax invoice via email.
Registration fees are per person and include lunch, morning and afternoon teas on the three days of the Congress, and the Cocktail party on Thursday evening. Delegate registration includes the Cocktail party only.
Registration fees are based on the date of receipt of payment (not the registration date). All prices are in Australian dollars and are inclusive of GST.

Payment of registration fees
Registration fees can be paid after registering for the conference.
Registration cancellation and refund policy
Cancellations must be advised in writing to the Congress Secretariat. The following refund policy applies to all registrations: before 1 August 2017: 75% refund; 1 August to 14 August 2017: 50% refund; after 14 August 2017: not eligible for a refund.
Accommodation & transfers
Once you have completed your registration, the next step will be to secure your accommodation, return ferry passage (walk on passenger or vehicle), and airport transfers from Hervey Bay Airport (if applicable). Kingfisher Bay Resort has created a link for you to complete these bookings all at once directly with them: kingfisherbay.com. Remember to mention the ASH Conference for a special rate on accommodation, if you require transport from the airport (if applicable) and flight and arrival time.
Please note that this is separate to your congress registration.
Kingfisher Bay Resort, on the World Heritage listed Fraser Island, offers modern accommodation just a three minute walk from the beach.
There are a limited number of rooms reserved for delegates at the below very good rates until 8 July 2017. After this date, rooms will be subject to availability.
